Birdwatching & Photography around Kuala Lumpur

It is possible to do birding around Kuala Lumpur. Several birding sites are available from west to the east of the capital city. The mangrove forests, open fields, natural and man-made wetlands, parks and gardens as well as lowland forest provide ample opportunities for photography and to see different species.

So, where to watch birds around Kuala Lumpur? I will usually bring my guests to Klang, Shah Alam, Putrajaya, FRIM, and Hulu Langat. These birding sites will be sufficient to create a good itinerary for a few days duration.

What are the birds that we can see? Frankly, it all depends on the time of the year. If you come at the right time especially during the migration season, you will have the chance to see 3 species of pitta (Mangrove Pitta, Blue-winged Pitta and Hooded Pitta), 9 species of kingfisher (White-throated Kingfisher, Collared Kingfisher, Black-capped Kingfisher, Common Kingfisher, Black-backed Kingfisher, Rufous-collared Kingfisher, Rufous-backed Kingfisher, Banded Kingfisher and Blue-eared Kingfisher), 11 species of woodpecker (Sunda Woodpecker, Grey-capped Woodpecker, Common Flameback, Laced Woodpecker, Rufous Woodpecker, Banded Woodpecker, Crimson-winged Woodpecker, Checker-throated Woodpecker, Orange-backed Woodpecker, Buff-rumped Woodpecker, and Buff-necked Woodpecker), 6 species of broadbill (Black-and-Red Broadbill, Black-and-Yellow Broadbill, Banded Broadbill, Dusky Broadbill, Silver-breasted Broadbill, and Green Broadbill), and the list goes on.

How can I get to see the birds? Worry not! That's how I come into the picture. I will provide you all the assistance you need in your birding adventure in Malaysia. I will provide my guiding service, transportation, tol, entrance fee / permit, accommodation and simple local meals.
